From Ecosystem Builder to a Three-Engine Strategy: KAPITA Is Pivoting to Align with Iraq’s Digital Future

By KAPITA
After six years of catalyzing private sector growth in Iraq, KAPITA is entering a bold new chapter. The organization is transitioning into a three-engine strategy—splitting into specialized entities focused on research, entrepreneurship, and technology. This strategic pivot marks a major evolution for the company, aligning its mission with the urgent demand for sector-specific solutions and digital innovation across Iraq. Co-founders Mujahid Waisi and Mohammed Jamal believe this transformation will scale KAPITA’s impact, enabling each arm—KAPITA Research, KAPITA Business Hub, and KAPITA Tech—to lead with focus, agility, and measurable outcomes in shaping Iraq’s economic future.

From Ecosystem Builder to a Three-Engine Strategy: KAPITA Is Pivoting to Align with Iraq’s Digital Future

After six years of pioneering efforts to empower Iraq’s private sector, KAPITA, co-founded by Mohammed Jamal and Mujahid Waisi, has announced a major strategic transformation. The organization will evolve into a group of three specialized companies - each focused on a key pillar of Iraq’s private sector development: research, entrepreneurship, and technology.

This move comes in response to the growing demand for sector-specific expertise, agile execution, and scalable solutions within the Iraqi market.

“This is a defining moment in our journey,” said Mujahid Waisi, Co-founder and CEO of KAPITA Business Hub. “Over the past six years, we’ve built ecosystems, supported startups, and unlocked opportunities. Now, we’re scaling our impact by focusing each unit on what it does best.”

The New KAPITA Group Structure

KAPITA Research

Led by Mohammed Jamal, KAPITA Research becomes a standalone company to continue its mission of providing strategic research and consultancy services, and data solutions to private and public sector clients. With a focus on localized, high-impact insights, the firm supports insight and data-driven decision-making and policy development in Iraq’s evolving business environment.

“Our mission has always been to bring clarity to complexity. With kapita Research now focused on its own mission, we are here to partner with international and local firms, serving as their Iraqi R&D partner.”

KAPITA Business Hub

Under the continued leadership of Mujahid Waisi, and supported by a strong and experienced senior management team - Ahmed Khalid and Mohammed Hameed the Business Hub remains Iraq’s leading platform for startup and SME support. Moving forward, the Hub will focus on acceleration programs, investment readiness, and business development services designed to empower founders and drive entrepreneurial growth across the country.

KAPITA Tech

Led by Ahmed Hamzawi, KAPITA Tech is a new company focused on AI-powered solutions and digital transformation. It delivers practical, scalable technologies to help businesses optimize operations and improve customer engagement through automation, software solutions, and intelligent systems.

“We’re creating tech that’s not just futuristic, but actionable, designed to solve real problems and deliver measurable value,” said Ahmed Hamzawi, CEO of KAPITA Tech.

Why the Transformation?

Since its founding in 2019, KAPITA has filled key ecosystem gaps in Iraq by providing integrated services in research, investment, and program delivery. Today, Iraq’s private sector demands deeper specialization and faster execution. This evolution allows each company to focus on its unique strengths while remaining strategically connected through shared values, complementary missions, and collaborative initiatives.
