Research Analyst (in-Field Data Collection)

KAPITA is a private sector development company that aims to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through investment, research, incubation/acceleration, and market development programs.

In order to upgrade the Iraqi ecosystem, KAPITA is working on new startups development, helping established Iraqi startups and small businesses to scale their (market, production, and evaluation), as well as personal development for entrepreneurs. KAPITA is taking the next logical step, by starting the first incubator and accelerator in Baghdad that hosts the most promising startups, providing them with seed funds, infrastructure and business services, financing and public relations. We will support the community by enhancing the entrepreneurial movement, building youth capacity, and feeding the private sector with human resources and knowledge-based, well-planned successful businesses.

We aim to be the institute that forms the core engine in developing the private sector in Iraq, we believe that to accelerate the growth of ecosystems and Entrepreneurs, there must be a core engine that grows fast in order to cause overall growth and development to take Iraqi startups and small businesses to the next level.


Position Overview:

KAPITA is looking for a research analyst (field data collection) to join its team within the R&D department. The R&D department at KAPITA is playing a key role in providing the necessary data, research, and publications on key business sectors in Iraq and the region. The R&D department helps both the public through publishing reports and research and KAPITA’s clients through specific market research and business intelligence services.

Being an in-field data collection specialist, your role will heavily depend on gathering quantitative and qualitative insights from the ground in Baghdad in the form of interviews, surveys, and other data collection methods. You will also be part of KAPITA’s larger picture, including other departments that are working on empowering the private sector in Iraq through programs, investments, and policy making. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data from the ground in Baghdad.

  • Conduct interviews, surveys, and other data collection methods.

  • Conduct literature reviews and data collection from social media and other websites. 

  • Perform data entry and basic data cleaning in Google Sheets.

  • Record, arrange, and transfer the collected data to the rest of the research team.

  • Remain fully informed about the Iraqi market trends, private sector players, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

  • Report updates, milestones, results, and obstacles to the department’s associates.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Extrovert and charismatic individual to conduct in-field data collection.

  • Available to travel around Baghdad and outside Baghdad if necessary. 

  • Advanced user of Google Workspace tools (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar, and Meet).

  • Ability to perform quantitative data entry in Google Sheets.

  • Ability to perform qualitative data entry in Google Docs.   

  • Ability to search for information over the internet (search engines, social media, etc.).

  • Native Arabic speaker with moderate to advanced English.

  • Knowledge of research types, data collection methodologies, and data types.

  • Good critical thinking, analytical mindset, and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work within a team of diverse backgrounds.

Working Hours: 9:00 - 17:00

Working Days: Saturday - Thursday
