KAPITA is a private sector development company that aims to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through investment, research, incubation/acceleration, and market development programs.

In order to upgrade the Iraqi ecosystem, KAPITA is working on new startups development, helping established Iraqi startups and small businesses to scale their (market, production, and evaluation), as well as personal development for entrepreneurs. KAPITA is taking the next logical step, by starting the first incubator and accelerator in Baghdad that hosts the most promising startups, providing them with seed funds, infrastructure and business services, financing and public relations. We will support the community by enhancing the entrepreneurial movement, building youth capacity, and feeding the private sector with human resources and knowledge-based, well-planned successful businesses.

We aim to be the institute that forms the core engine in developing the private sector in Iraq, we believe that to accelerate the growth of ecosystems and Entrepreneurs, there must be a core engine that grows fast in order to cause overall growth and development to take Iraqi startups and small businesses to the next level.


Position Overview:

KAPITA is looking for a research analyst to join its team within the R&D department. The R&D department at KAPITA is playing a key role in providing the necessary data, research, and publications on key business sectors in Iraq and the region. The R&D department helps both the public through publishing reports and research and KAPITA’s clients through specific market research and business intelligence services.

Being part of the R&D department will give you the opportunity to take part in preparing reports and publications, get exposure to various business and economic sectors, and manage and analyze secondary and primary data. You will also be part of KAPITA’s larger picture, including other departments that are working on empowering the private sector in Iraq through programs, investments, and policymaking. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Writing reports and research publications on various business sectors and performing literature reviews and secondary data collection to support the written content.

  • Building reports’ and publications’ structures and outlines that align with the research objectives and available information.

  • Producing appropriate conclusions and recommendations based on reports and publications qualitative and quantitative contents.

  • Owning research projects and making sure the research timeline is met through coordination with the rest of the team members.

  • Contribute to the development of research proposals for new clients and projects.

  • Conduct interviews and lead focus group discussions as a form of qualitative data collection.

  • Engage with client communication through emails and online meetings.

  • Remain fully informed about the Iraqi market trends, private sector players, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

  • Report updates, milestones, results, and obstacles to the department’s associates.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Advanced writing, reading, speaking, and listening English and Arabic skills.

  • Advanced user of Google Workspace tools (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar, and Meet).

  • Previous writing experience (thesis, capstone, articles, publications, essays, etc.).

  • Knowledge of research types, data collection methodologies, and data types.

  • Ability to convert scattered data sources into coherent written articles.

  • Ability to write full market research reports for clients based on the research objectives.

  • Ability to search for information over the internet (search engines, social media, etc.).

  • Good critical thinking, analytical mindset, and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work within a team of diverse backgrounds.


Working Hours9:00 - 17:00

Working Days: Saturday - Thursday
